Storm Drain Inlet Filters Details
The curb inlet guard provides storm drain inlet protection for curbside inlet drains and combination drains with grated inlets. These storm drain inlet filters are made from heavy duty non-woven polyester spun fabric. Additionally, the storm drain inlet guard is made with built-in rare earth magnets to make installing the curb inlet guard easy. The heavy-duty yellow geotextile material of the curb inlet guard removes oil and hydrocarbons as well as sediment and silt.
The difference between the Ultra Inlet Guard (standard model) and the Ultra Inlet Guard Plus is that the Plus Model is made with a built-in overflow port that allows untreated water to pass through during heavy rainfall events to prevent flooding.
The curb inlet guard is made for stormwater drains with side inlets (curbside) and with grated inlets (combination storm drains). The side inlets of a storm drain (curbside) are located adjacent to the curb and capture flow by relying on the ability of the opened under the back of the stone curb. To improve capture capacity, these curb inlets are usually depressed at the invert. The standard model of the curb inlet filter has dimensions to fit into this type of storm drain.
The storm drains with grated inlets (combination drains) near the curb usually have these gratings to prevent large amount of debris from falling inside and to improve water flow during rainfall events. The curb style Ultra Inlet Guard fits perfects in these combination drains, accounting for the curbside inlet and the sump underneath the grating.
This storm drain inlet protection device comes in a standard curb style and a combination grated inlet style. For exact dimensions of both models of Ultra Inlet Guard and Ultra Inlet guard Plus, see the specifications below.

Storm Drain Inlet Protection Device Installation
Because the curb inlet guard is made with built-in, strong magnets, they will attach themselves to the grate itself. These storm drain inlet filters are not made to be one-size-fits all. The storm drain dimensions must match those of the curb inlet guard for it to attach correctly and efficiently. Unlike other storm drain grate protection devices, the curb inlet guard material cannot be trimmed. The magnets inside the storm drain inlet filters also should not be removed. These 24" x 24" and 24" x 36" storm drain inlet protection device sizes have four magnets, one in each corner. The 24" x 48" size has six magnets.
Installation of the curb inlet guard is simple. Simply line it up with the grating or storm drain inlet, lay on top of the grating, and let the rare earth magnets hold the storm drain inlet filters in place. Storm Drain Inlet Protection Device Frequently Asked Questions
Storm drain inlet filters use strong rare earth magnets to hold itself in place on the storm drain grate. This makes installing the storm drain inlet protection device simple. You don't have to lift the storm drain grate when installing or removing the stormwater BMP. The heavy-duty material will filter both sediment and oil, as well as trash and debris. The curb inlet guard can also come with an overflow port to prevent puddling and pooling during heavy rainfall to help you with stormwater management.
Storm drain inlet filters are exposed to outdoor elements and vehicular traffic. For these reasons, keeping a regular stormwater management maintenance schedule of your storm drain inlet protection device will allow you to remove the built-up debris and sediment as well as check it for damage.
