Type 3 Turbidity Barrier Product Details

TYPE 3 DOT Turbidity Curtain

The type III DOT turbidity curtain is USA made to meet or exceed state and federal Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements for demanding conditions such as waves, fast water currents, or tides. Constructed with the increased strength of the floating turbidity barrier components make them perfect for longer term, intercoastal type projects. Manufactured with strong, reliable components, the DOT type 3 turbidity barrier is the go-to solution to contain silt, turbidity, and displaced sediment around your job site. TYPE 3 Heavy Duty Turbidity Curtain

The type 3 heavy duty turbidity barrier or turbidity curtain is the strongest silt barrier available. This heavy-duty floating turbidity barrier is constructed using a 22oz PVC fabric, a 12" square floatation, and heavier 3/8" chain. Perfect for those locations having strong waves and currents of 1.5 knots, the type 3 HD turbidity curtain is the right solution. It is available in lengths of 50' and a depth of 3' to 100'.

TYPE 3 Heavy Duty Permeable Turbidity Curtain

One Clarion Type 3 HD Permeable turbidity barrier has the same strong components of the heavy duty turbidity barrier with the added benefit of a monofilament filter sewn into the skirt. The geotextile filter reduces the stress load on the turbidity curtain resulting in a longer life span of the silt curtain. Designed to work in more severe conditions such as fast water, currents up to 1.5 knots, locations with strong waves and other adverse conditions. Heavy duty permeable type 3 turbidity curtain is the perfect solution for such applications as inter-coastal projects, dredging sites, longer term projects, and projects in bays or harbors that are affected by high winds and strong waves.

Type 3 Turbidity Barrier Applications

The type III turbidity barrier is recommended for use in locations with a current up to 1.5 knots, and for long term, intercoastal, dredging, or remediation projects. All One Clarion turbidity barriers are manufactured in the USA. Components that make up the type 3 turbidity curtain include: dual tension cables, thick steel ballast chain, and a strong PVC material. The One Clarion type 3 turbidity curtain is by design our toughest floating turbidity barrier.

Water conditions and site layout play a big part in deciding which job sites require a Type III Silt Curtain. Water velocity, size of waves, wind speed and direction, tides, and project duration impact installation and all are factored into the decision. One Clarion recommends type 3 turbidity curtain for other applications as well. Sites for bays or harbors that are severely affected by wind and waves, beach erosion and stabilization projects, and long term projects can benefit from the use of type 3 turbidity curtains.
